This gives us a novel and critical advantage when working with Service, Sporting/Athlete and Working Dogs (SSAW Dogs), as well as other working species such as horses, cats (e.g., search and rescue horses, reading assistance cats, hunting-birds (e.g., hunting falcons), etc.
It also gives us a unique perspective on pet/companion animals. Any animal, especially one challenged with injury, illness or disease works as hard and trains like an elite athlete sometimes just to accomplish everyday tasks! We honor their efforts as much as we honor the SSAW Dog.
